What You Will Do:

This is a full-time on-site role for a Construction Project Manager located in Greater Hartford. The Project Manager plans, directs, and coordinates activities related to assigned projects. S/he is responsible for managing assigned construction projects and to ensure that the profits, quality, goals and objectives of the company are accomplished through effective use of personnel, materials, sub-contractors and equipment and that projects are completed within the prescribed time frame. Understand and discuss costs, projected schedule, bid requirements and assumptions. Inform team members of pertinent information. Perform complete job buyout including drafting of subcontracts. Draft subcontracts to be thorough, complete and all-inclusive.

This position requires an individual with expert knowledge in the construction industry as it pertains to labor, equipment, materials, and procedures for completing the jobs assigned using approved construction methods, and within approved construction codes.

This individual must have strong leadership skills, as well as be able to communicate effectively with management, customers, employees and others that may visit a construction site from time to time.

What You Bring:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in the construction industry with at least three or more years as a project manager
  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • Experience in public works construction projects strongly preferred
  • Project coordination and project management in construction experience
  • Thorough understanding of and following of plans and specifications in the construction of projects
  • Understand blueprints, drawings, building codes and other various tools and forms of communications used on construction job sites
  • Experience in controlling job costs and adhering to progress schedules
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Job Description:

Position Overview: As a Project Engineer
at PDS Engineering & Construction, you will play a vital role in ensuring
the successful execution of construction projects from inception to completion.
You will work closely with the project management team, architects,
subcontractors, and other stakeholders to deliver projects on time, within
budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project
    Planning and Coordination:

    • Assist
      in project planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
    • Coordinate
      project activities and ensure adherence to timelines.
    • Collaborate
      with architects, designers, and subcontractors to ensure project
      specifications are met.
  2. Quality
    Assurance:

    • Conduct
      regular inspections to ensure work meets quality standards.
    • Identify
      and resolve issues promptly to maintain project integrity.
  3. Document
    Control:

    • Maintain
      accurate project documentation, including drawings, specifications, submittals,
      RFIs and change orders.
    • Prepare
      and review project reports, meeting minutes, progress updates, and
      budgets.
  4. Material
    Procurement and Management:

    • Assist
      in procuring materials and equipment as needed for construction.
    • Monitor
      inventory and ensure timely delivery of materials to the site.
  5. Safety
    and Compliance:

    • Promote
      a safe working environment and enforce safety regulations.
    • Ensure
      compliance with local building codes and regulations.
  6. Cost
    Management:

    • Assist
      in tracking project expenses and control costs.
    • Identify
      cost-saving opportunities and recommend changes as necessary.
  7. Communication
    and Team Collaboration:

    • Maintain
      clear and open communication with project stakeholders.
    • Collaborate
      with the project team to address any issues or concerns that may arise
      during construction.
  8. Problem
    Solving:

    • Identify
      and resolve construction-related problems in a timely and efficient
      manner.
    • Offer
      innovative solutions to project challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s
    degree in Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Previous
    experience in construction project management or engineering.
  • Strong
    knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
  • Proficiency
    in project management software and tools.
  • Excellent
    communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented
    with strong organizational abilities.
  • Ability
    to work collaboratively in a team and independently.
